			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Happy Valentine’s Day, T3 Team!</p>
<p>On this day of love, I wanted to share with you an inspiring story…it is also kind of a love story for our sport</p>
<p><em>“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”  </em>Just ask 91-year old Charlie Futrell, our honorary T3 member! He didn&#8217;t start racing until age 72. Since then, he&#8217;s been to Kona 6 times and has completed 123 triathlons as of last year!! In 2011 Charlie became the oldest person ever to complete an officially sanctioned triathlon at the Central Florida Triathlon Series #2 event in Clermont, Florida. He did the full Sprint distance triathlon and finished with a time of <strong>2:18:38</strong><strong>.</strong> The USAT believes Charlie is the only person over 90-years old to finish <span style="text-decoration:underline;">both</span> an officially sanctioned <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Duathlon</span> and <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Triathlon</span> race. &#8220;He is an extremely charismatic and unbelievable role model for athletes of all ages,&#8221; Tim Yount, USA Triathlon&#8217;s chief operating officer, said of Futrell. &#8220;He has great passion for the sport and has done some amazing things since he started competing.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>What might Charlie’s goals be for 2012 racing season?</strong> If you ask him what his goal is, he will say &#8216;to turn 92.&#8217; <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />   He also hopes to complete 4 triathlons and 4 duathlons. T3 athlete, and Charlie’s friend, Jill Kralovanec accompanied him to race together at Chilly Will Duathlon on Sunday, February 5<sup>th</sup>. <p><strong>The Challenge</strong> – With Myrna Haag. It&#8217;s a low-impact, cross-training endurance class that lasts 1.5-2 hours and focuses primarily on the moves and muscles that are involved in all three sports.  It is held on Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm and Sundays from 4:30-6:00.  She is a great coach and motivator.  It is also a great activity if you need to modify your training because of injury.  Beginners to Ironmen welcome and all will be challenged.</p>

<p><strong>The Challenge</strong> – With Myrna Haag. It&#8217;s a low-impact, cross-training endurance class that lasts 1.5-2 hours and focuses primarily on the moves and muscles that are involved in all three sports.  It is held on Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm and Sundays from 4:30-6:00.  She is a great coach and motivator.  It is also a great activity if you need to modify your training because of injury.  Beginners to Ironmen welcome and all will be challenged.</p>

<p>We had some amazing T3 athletes out there last weekend racing at various running and swimming events. You guys all ROCK!!</p>
<p>-      Ragnar Relay: Avena Hale, Karla Malone, Laura Toll, Dayna Davidson, Doug Bouthe, Phil Findley, Ken Page, Karina &amp; Andrew Findlay – Good job, congrats to you all!</p>
<p>-       Disney Marathon and ½ Marathon: Yen Loyola, Mark Van Osdal, and “Goofies”, Phillip Newman and Jill Kralovanec who completed the ½ marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday (Goofy Challenge). &#8211; Fantastic job!</p>
<p>-      Kiwanis 5-mile Trail Race on Honeymoon Island: Dodee Nulty and  Nancy Boulianne (3<sup>rd</sup> in AG) – Well done, ladies!</p>

<p>And last, but not least, congratulations to T3 athlete, Jay Gallagher, who participated in the 3rd annual Tampa Bay Frogman 5K Open Water Swim also this past Sunday. This was his second year, and rest assured, he will do it again next year!  J I thought you might enjoy reading about Jay’s story.</p>
<p><em>“Had a great time today at the 3rd annual Tampa Bay Frogman 5K Open Water Swim. We doubled the number of participants this year from about 60 or so to about 120. The water temp was a bit warmer this year. I heard it was 57 and I also heard it was 61. It wasn&#8217;t cold if you have a full wetsuit, neoprene cap and booties though. <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />   My wife Marie was my kayak support this year. She did an excellent job guiding me across the bay.  One difference this year was the jellyfish, and it freaks me out when I&#8217;m hitting them.  Marie told me later that she didn&#8217;t want to say anything as it was happening but at one point there were jellyfish literally everywhere.  It also freaks me out when I&#8217;m swimming across the shipping channel. It&#8217;s cold, dark and I&#8217;m not at the top of the food chain there by any means. But I survived the journey without drowning or getting eaten. The swim course is on some really great bull shark fishing areas.  All my fisherman friends who have fished the area just shake their heads as they recall the sharks they&#8217;ve seen in the area.  So it&#8217;s good. <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
I did have the worst cramping issues I&#8217;ve ever encountered swimming though.  Most of the swim was all arms, because my legs were pretty useless.  It was the worst, and as it&#8217;s now Wednesday the pain has just subsided today.  In the middle of the shipping channel about 2.5 miles into the swim both of my legs seized up in paralyzing cramps. It was really terrible. It took about 30 seconds or so for my muscles to release but it was crazy painful. Felt like 5 minutes. I thought the kayakers were going to signal one the boats to come get me I was in so much pain. I managed to say &#8220;DONT raise your paddle! It&#8217;s going to take a lot more than this to keep me from finishing.&#8221; The cramps subsided to a non-crippling level and I continued on and finished.  I finished in 1:49:34, which is disappointing.  But considering that leg and foot cramps started about 15 minutes in and continued the entire way, I guess it&#8217;s not so bad.  Not that time matters at all for events like this. It&#8217;s a great event for a great cause and I&#8217;ll definitely plan on it again next year.  I highly recommend it, but know that it fills up about 2 months beforehand, and the fundraising takes time.  Speaking of which, I fell well short of the fundraising goal they set for us, but donations are still being accepted for the event here: <a href="http://www.imathlete.com/donate/jaygallagher" target="_blank">http://www.imathlete.com/donate/jaygallagher</a>” </em></p>

<p><strong>The Challenge</strong> – With Myrna Haag. It&#8217;s a low-impact, cross-training endurance class that lasts 1.5-2 hours and focuses primarily on the moves and muscles that are involved in all three sports.  It is held on Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm and Sundays from 4:30-6:00.  She is a great coach and motivator.  It is also a great activity if you need to modify your training because of injury.  Beginners to Ironmen welcome and all will be challenged.</p>

It&#8217;s a low-impact, cross-training endurance class that lasts 1.5-2 hours and focuses primarily on the moves and muscles that are involved in all three sports.  It is held on Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm and Sundays from 4:30-6:00.  She is a great coach and motivator.  It is also a great activity if you need to modify your training because of injury.  Beginners to Ironmen welcome and all will be challenged.</p>

It&#8217;s a low-impact, cross-training endurance class thatlasts 1.5-2 hours and focuses primarily on the moves and muscles that are involved in all three sports.  It is on Thursdays from 6-7:30 and Sundays from 4:30-6:30.  She is a great coach and motivator.  It is also a great activity if you need to modify your training because of injury. Beginners to Ironmen welcome and all will be challenged.</p>

<p>The2011-2012 National Challenge Competition (NCC) is designed to get triathletesexcited about off-season training at the Club level. The NCC will feature threesessions, each one month in duration, from December to February. HALF MARATHON TRAINING<br />
Coach Lisa Sandusky is offering a 12-week program to prepare runners for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in February. The program includes a detailed 12-week plan that will be adapted for current level of run fitness (beginners – advanced runners). Support &amp; coaching throughout the 12 weeks and group runs. The informational meeting for this will be today, Tuesday, Nov 15 at 7:30pm (following the scheduled run). Training begins Nov. 21.<br />
