First Timers

If you are new to our triathlon team, please complete our membership form.  We offer many programs and classes for the newbie and the advanced triathlete.

FREE Beginner Sprint Distance Triathlon Training
(.25-.5 mile swim, 10-15 mile bike, 3.1 mile run)

We just finished our sprint distance training program, check back in May 2012 for the informational meeting day in order to participate in our 8 week training program, working towards a July/August race.

 FREE Olympic Distance Triathlon Training
(.9 mile swim, 24.9 mile bike, 3.1 mile run)

We will lead a FREE Olympic distance training program starting March 5th geared for St. Anthony’s.  This will be an 8-week program lead by T3 member and certified USAT coach, Laura Glover.  (tricoachlaura@gmail.com) She has extensive triathlon racing and coaching experience, and she is also the master swim’s coach at Northwest  YMCA.

There is an informational meeting Thursday, March 1st at 6:30 pm at Northwest YMCA.

If you would like to participate in our free program, but are unable to come to the meeting, email Monika Cassidy at t3triteam@gmail.com or Laura Glover at tricoachlaura@gmail.com.

If you are located at branches other than Bob Sierra or Northwest, you can still participate in the training, since you all have organized training groups (masters swim/group rides, spin classes, running groups) at your facilities. Coach Laura will send out weekly emails and outline your daily/weekly training schedule you can follow, including cross-training, and lots more. There will be an open water swim and transition clinic also offered.

Our Olympic distance program is geared toward the intermediate athlete, so in order to be successful with this program, it would be wise to buildyou base to the following prior to participating:

Run – 60 minutes
Bike – 90 minutes
Swim – 45 minute workout

More Direction?

If you just want a little direction and get some questions answered, or maybe are interested in a more customized training plan (for a fee) for ANY distance, feel free to email Monika Cassidy at t3triteam@gmail.com or Lisa Sandusky at Lisa.sandusky@verizon.net and we can direct you down that path.

Nutrition Basics?

Check out this great article written by Lisa Sandusky on Nutrition 101.

Easing into it . . .

A great way to ease into the race scene is to do a RELAY!  Get one or two friends together and just have a good time!  You can learn and train together – what is better than that?

Here are some resources to help get you started . . . Eric Harr’s book, Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week, will give you some direction.  Here is the link for his Fitness Level I: Slice Above Couch Potato Program.  If you are a more experienced athlete, then you can handle more training, as he details in the rest of the book.  This is just a place to start.

You can also go to www.triathanewbie.com or  www.trinewbies.com for some great information on getting started.
