Group Training

Group Fitness, Masters Swim, Run Groups & Group Rides offered throughout the Tampa Metro YMCAs are listed below.  Please also check out the current class schedules at your favorite YMCA online at www.tampaymca.org.  If you are new to our triathlon team, please complete our membership form.  We offer many programs and classes for the newbie and the advanced triathlete alike.

Bob Sierra/Carrollwood

Tues Speed Infused Group Run- 6:30pm, meet in YMCA Lobby and run through the neighborhood with speed intervals, led by Lisa Sandusky, Lisa.sandusky@verizon.net.  Note! Nursery is NOT available.

Thur Neighborhood Run – meet in YMCA lobby at 6:30pm for a run through Northdale.  Nursery is NOT available.

Campo/Brandon Area,

Mon and Thur. evenings at 5:30 pm; Thursday mornings at 9:30 am.  NOTE:  “Drop and go” child care provided!!  Make sure you have registered at the front desk. Meet near the bike rack in front of the YMCA 10 minutes before the run is scheduled. YMCA staff will be there with you and have a phone to contact the YMCA in case of emergency. Masters Swim:

Bob Sierra Family YMCA – Masters Swim is FREE! to YMCA members

Tues/Thur - 5:15am to 6:15am
Mon/Wed – 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Saturday – 9:00am to 10:30am
Email Coach Mark Anderson at marknchrista@gmail.com to join the Bob Sierra Masters Google group. You will receive free workouts that range from 2800 – 3200 yards. Masters swim is not only for the proficient swimmer looking to hold 1:10′s for 100 yards, but those looking to hold 3:00min/100 yards or just beginning to swim. There are plenty of lanes to accommodate the various capabilities of swimmers.

Northwest YMCA

Masters swim with Coach Laura Glover Tues & Thurs at 9:45 am. FREE for facility members. Any further questions, please email Laura at tricoachlaura@gmail.com.

Campo

With Coach Scott- Mon/Wed 5:30-6:30 am and Tue/Thu 6-7 .

Cost:  20$/month for facility members & 35$/month for program members

BRANDON YMCA

MASTERS SWIM: With Coach Vince- Mon/Wed/Fri at 6 – 7:15am and 6 – 7:15pm       Cost:  20$/month for facility members and 35$/month for program members.

Group Rides:

There is a ride that leaves Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium at 7:30am on Saturday mornings from the back parking lot, averaging 17-18 mph.  Call Manny at (813) 963-5765 for more information.

There is a ride that leaves Suncoast Trailside Bicycles (rides the Suncoast Trail – no rain, 45 degrees and above) next to Super Target on State Road 54.  This ride rolls out at 8:00am on Sunday mornings from the shop parking lot, 45-60 miles, averaging 18-24mph.  Call Geoff at (*813) 920.2225 for more information.

San Antonio ballfield on Saturday mornings by 7:30am.  It’s a good mix of triathletes and roadies.  Average speed is usually between 19-20 mph.  Make one stop at a convenience store around the halfway point.  Contact Kristie Concepcion for more information at kristieconcepcion@hotmail.com.

Ginger Bean, gingstubean@aol.com, (New Tampa) leads a group ride on Thursdays at 8am.  Also Tom Goode leads a ride or run at 5:45pm on Thursdays from New Tampa, tom.goode@tampaymca.org.

There are MANY, MANY members of the tri team that ride on Saturday and Sunday mornings on the Suncoast Trail.  If you don’t have anyone to ride with, let Monika (t3triteam@gmail.com) know your pace and ability and she will try to match you up with someone.

For those of you that are advanced riders and are looking for a fast-paced, competitive ride with road cyclists, talk to your local bike shop about the Gaither, Greco and San Antonio rides.

Finally, there are group rides that leave from many of the bike shops in the area.  These are normally very non-intimidating rides.  You can check out the bike shop closest to your house for more information about these group rides.
